About Ateliers Pénélope

VARIATION ON COTTON
A large part of Ateliers Penelope's creative process derives from the raw material used: cotton.

Housed in the charming Meguro district of Tokyo, Ateliers Penelope uses the famous Okayama cotton canvas. Okayama is in Japan the most famous city for the quality of its cotton canvas. Okayama has preserved the know-how of historically specialized manufactures of cotton canvas for professional use (sails, tarpaulins and tool bags).

The designer at the head of the workshop, Asuka Karasawa, selects the different qualities of cotton fabric used according to the type of weaving (simple or oxford), the density of the weave and the paraffin coating.

SIMPLE OBJECTS TO ENCOURAGE THE DAILY
Cotton canvas is a living material that evolves over time, offering subtle variations in hues, a unique rigidity and feel.

Ateliers Penelope offers a wide selection of bags and accessories designed on the basis of a simple and functional design for both everyday and distinctive use.
